Well, fingers are crossed. For the fourth year in a row, I’ve sent off submissions to The Black Library, the publishing arm of Games Workshop and the primary dissemination point for Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 fiction.
This year was somewhat bitter-sweet for me since it is the last year that Black Library will be accepting novel submissions. The publisher is instead focusing on short stories in their e-zine Hammer and Bolter as their main recruitment tool for new talent. This is a little sad for me, since some writers (myself included), prefer telling long-form tales, rather than short ones. As well, I’m of the opinion that short story authorship does not necessarily translate into the ability to carry a story throughout novel-length fiction. But so it goes.
So now I wait, not only for a positive response for Black Library but also for Warhammer 40K 6th edition and hopefully all the joy that will bring.
My fingers crossed for you too. I wonder if Fandemonium accepts submissions.
Yep. Still waiting. But still writing.
